DETAILED DESCRIPTION:

Commiphora Wildii, locally known as "Omumbiri,"  is a species of myrrh that is sourced in Namibia. This species of myrrh grows on mountains in the north regions of the country.

In dry season, the resin from the Omumbiri Myrrh tree is collected and left to cure in the African air for a few weeks. No tapping ever occurs in the region to ensure a sustainable wild population of these exotic myrrh trees; the resin is simply collected from the natural exudes of the plant. Wildii is harvested before the rainy season by local Himba women, who use it for its pleasant perfume scent and mix it with butter fat and ochre and make a kind of conditioner that is smeared on the hair and skin.

This resin comes in mix of fine grain and small to medium sized chunks. The aroma in raw form is clean and earthy; when burned it produces a pungent, earthy African spice scent. This scent is the dry perfume that is rubbed on the entire body of local Himba women and encompasses the rich Namibian culture that spans millennia.
